Community service can either be volunteer or paid work done by a single individual or group of people to further the betterment and welfare of the community without any kind of monetary compensation. Community service may be mandatory for some cases and different from voluntary service, as it is generally not paid on an unpaid basis. In most cases, you can also request for a grant for this type of work, which is usually done by the government.
There are many types of community service that you can choose from. The following are some examples:
- Community development. This is usually done by the local government to improve the quality of living of the local residents and prevent the development of undesirable areas. Examples of this are housing projects, parks, schools, health clinics, etc. This could also include things like litter pickup, beautifying streets, improving water drainage systems, etc. You can make use of various forms of public works like this if you want.
- Community development project is usually done in areas where development has been completed recently, such as urbanization. It involves the development of different amenities and infrastructure to make them more convenient and comfortable. Examples of the things that could be done by doing this are roads and railways, malls, commercial and institutional establishments, hospitals, and others. - Community Service may also be offered by businesses and organizations. The idea behind this type of service is to provide help to local residents who have problems that need to be solved by the authorities, especially those who live in difficult situations. - The benefits of doing community service are many.
